According to the Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recently announced an investigation into brake failures affecting 200,000 Nissan vehicles. NHTSA has initiated a preliminary investigation into 200,000 Nissan Sentra and Versa vehicles, specifically from the 2013 to 2014 model years. The agency stated that it has received eight complaint reports regarding these vehicles, with the failure attributed to an excessively long travel distance of the brake pedal. These complaints were first submitted as early as the end of 2012. One complaint report submitted in May 2013 indicated that the owner was driving a 2013 Sentra, and after pressing the brake pedal at a red light, the vehicle continued to move forward. At the time of this failure, the car had only 143 miles on the odometer. Additionally, several owners in the complaint reports claimed that brake failures occurred shortly after purchasing the vehicles. Following the NHTSA investigation, Nissan also released a statement: "The company is committed to providing a high-quality purchasing experience for Versa and Sentra owners, and we will thoroughly review this issue while continuing to cooperate with regulatory investigations."
