Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 22 (Reporter Wu Jing) The first training class for national party committee spokespersons was held in Beijing. Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, kindly met with all the trainees of the training class and delivered a speech.
Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Central Secretariat, and Minister of the Publicity Department, also attended the meeting.
Li Changchun pointed out in his speech that establishing a spokesperson system for party committees is an important task determined by the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is of great significance for improving the party's governance capacity under new circumstances, developing socialist democracy, ensuring the people's right to know, participate, express, and supervise, strengthening the close ties between the party and the people, grasping the initiative in public opinion guidance, and establishing a good image of the party and government. He hopes that the trainees of this training class will earnestly study and comprehend the spirit of the 17th National Congress and the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Plenary Sessions of the 17th Central Committee, understand the profound connotation of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, learn the guidelines, policies, and principles of the party's news and publicity work, deeply explore the characteristics and laws of public opinion dissemination under the conditions of informationization, and effectively improve their ability and level of public opinion guidance.
Li Changchun emphasized that this year marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the first year of the "12th Five-Year Plan." Currently, our country faces both rare opportunities and severe challenges. The tasks of party committee spokespersons are arduous and their responsibilities are glorious. We must carry out news release and public opinion guidance work with a high sense of responsibility and mission, strive to create a strong atmosphere to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, promote scientific development, and foster social harmony, seize and make good use of strategic opportunities to promote the good and fast development of the economy and society, work hard to do practical things for the masses, promote social justice, and do a good job in mass work, and create a strong atmosphere to establish a good image of our peaceful development internationally, guiding the broad masses of cadres and people to unify their thoughts and actions with the central spirit and concentrate their wisdom and strength on achieving a good start to the "12th Five-Year Plan," striving for new victories in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and creating a new situation for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The three-day first training class for national party committee spokespersons was organized by the International Communication Office of the CPC Central Committee. Spokespersons and relevant work leaders from party committees of relevant departments of the Party Central Committee, provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and cities specifically designated in the state plan, as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, participated in the training.
